Lately I've been stuck when it comes to shooting black and white on film.
The editing process is a lot harder than digital editing or maybe it's TOO easy compared to digital editing and I'm thinking too hard on getting the right shade of black or the right shade of gray.
I'm finding myself becoming more and more frustrated and not enjoying my photographs. I know its a matter of getting used to seeing the contrast. I'm just not trained in doing so. My life has been color, My heart is in color (although I will never limit myself or my art to one style or color) so I'm having a hard time transferring what I see into black and white. I know I'll get passed it sooner or later but I'd rather it be sooner than later.
I've also noticed that when it comes to black and white I tend to like my pictures darker, where as the teacher wants everything to be lighter and, in my opinion, this bores and frustrates me. I almost wish she would just let us evolve into our own individual style weather it be too contrasty, too dark, too light... or "perfect" in her words. I guess I'm just a rebel no matter what. I'll always have conflict with authority.
blah...
just a quick rant.
